Elberta is home base — EMCO works out of County Road 32, so this is the one town where the equipment is already here. The town was laid out by the Baldwin County Colonization Company in 1903, which sold German farm families from the Midwest on 40-acre tracts and section-line roads, and that grid is still visible every time you drive it: square farm parcels, straight county roads, and ground that has been worked for four generations.
