Most slab problems are dirt problems wearing a concrete disguise. A pad poured on soft, unprepared, or badly drained ground cracks and settles no matter how good the finish work was — and South Alabama ground, between sandy coastal soils and wet flatwoods, punishes shortcuts. We pour slabs and pads across Baldwin and Mobile County with the part most concrete-only outfits subcontract or skip: the dirt work underneath.
Shop floors, shed and barn pads, carport and RV pads, generator and equipment slabs, patio slabs — we cut the ground to grade, build and compact the base, form it, pour it, and finish it. One crew owns the whole stack, so when the slab is done there is no gap between the excavation contractor and the concrete contractor for problems to hide in.
Slab-ready also means thickness and reinforcement matched to the load: a 4-inch slab does fine under a shed, while anything carrying vehicles or equipment wants thicker concrete and rebar. We spec it to what the pad will actually hold — and if what you really need is a concrete driveway, that is its own service and we do that too.

Concrete is only as good as what it sits on. We strip the topsoil and organics, cut to grade, and build a compacted base so the slab bears on ground that will not move — and we shape the surrounding grade so storm water runs away from the pad instead of under it. On this coast, where summer rain is a guarantee, that drainage detail is the difference between a slab that stays flat and one that tilts by year five.
Load decides the spec. Sheds and patios do fine on a standard 4-inch pour; vehicle and equipment pads want 5 to 6 inches with rebar. In the regional market, installed slab work generally runs in the $6-to-$9-per-square-foot range for standard residential pours, with thickness, reinforcement, and site prep moving the number — we break all three out in the quote so you can see what you are paying for.
The requests we see most: a slab for the metal building or workshop going up behind the house, a pad so the RV or boat stops sinking into the yard, barn and equipment pads on acreage, and generator pads going in ahead of hurricane season. Metal-building slabs get special attention on flatness and anchor-bolt layout so the erector has nothing to fight.
If the spot for your pad is currently trees, brush, or an old structure, we handle that too — clearing, demolition, and stump grubbing ahead of the dirt work, so the whole path from overgrown corner to finished slab is one phone number.
From the first walkthrough to the final one, here’s exactly how your project runs.
We come out, look at the actual ground — the growth, the slope, the wet spots, the access — listen to what you want done, and give you a straight, written estimate. No pressure and no phone-quote guessing.
We lock in a date, plan equipment access and where debris goes, and account for drainage and any lines or wetlands to protect. You know the plan before anything starts moving.
Our own crew runs our own iron — mulchers, excavators, and dozers — and we keep the site clean and keep you posted. Decades of experience means we read the ground and adjust instead of tearing it up.
We walk the finished property with you, haul off or mulch whatever the plan called for, and leave the ground clean, graded, and ready for whatever you are building next.
