Spanish Fort has something most of the coast doesn't: real terrain. The town sits up on the bluffs where the ridge drops off toward the Mobile-Tensaw Delta and the causeway, and the lots that come with a view come with a slope. It's red clay under the topsoil here, and clay on a grade means grading and dirt work is where a Spanish Fort building project actually starts.
EMCO Builders cuts and fills sloped lots across Spanish Fort into pads a builder can work on. We move the dirt to level the building site, hold the cut slopes so they don't slide, and set the grade so water runs around the house and not through it. This is some of the fastest-growing, highest-dollar ground in Baldwin County, and it takes dirt work done right the first time. Licensed #13967, more than 30 years at it, phone (251) 747-7839.

A sloped lot doesn't become a pad by accident. We cut into the high side, build up the low side with the same dirt where it'll compact, and end with a level building envelope that sits where the plans say it should. Red clay holds a slope well when it's benched and compacted right, and it slides when it isn't, so we build the cut the way it needs to be held.
Balancing the dirt on site keeps a Spanish Fort job affordable. Haul dirt in and haul spoil out and the trucking eats the budget, so we cut and fill within the lot wherever the elevations allow it. Where a lot needs more than grading to work, we bring the excavation for footings and drainage into the same push.
Everything on this bluff drains toward the Delta, and a bare clay slope after a rain turns into mud in the wrong place fast. Spanish Fort and Baldwin County both want the erosion control in and working before the dirt moves, so we set the silt fence, the inlet protection, and the check dams, and keep them up through the job. It isn't paperwork, it's what keeps your dirt on your lot.
Clay that's graded and left bare washes, so we shape the finish grade to move water in controlled paths and get it stabilized. Where a slope is too steep to hold on its own, we build it back at an angle that stays or set the ground up for a retaining wall. Around it we clear and build the drive so the whole site works together.
