Saraland's been one of the fastest-growing spots in Mobile County, and the growth off Kali Oka and Industrial Parkway keeps eating into what used to be timberland and low delta ground. The Mobile River delta sits right off the east side of town, so a lot of this ground runs wet and flat, and that puts excavation and drainage at the front of nearly every project here.
EMCO Builders digs the Saraland area for the subdivision and commercial boom: the site drainage, the detention ponds, the utility trenches, and the cut and fill that turns raw ground into buildable lots. We work the low wet ground near the delta and the upland where the new neighborhoods are going in, and we build it to drain. The east side of Saraland drops toward the Mobile River delta, and that ground holds water. Building on it means getting the water off first, so we dig the swales, the ditches, and the storm lines that carry runoff to the right outfall, and we build the pads up with fill above the wet grade. Ground that stays wet on its own can be built on, but only after the water has a way out.
Detention is part of nearly every Saraland site now. As the town's filled in, the city and Mobile County want new development to hold its own stormwater instead of dumping it on the next lot, so we dig the detention ponds and shape the site to the approved drainage plan. Built right, the pond does its job quietly for decades.
New neighborhoods run on what's buried before the houses go up. We trench and bed the water, sewer, and storm lines, dig the manholes and structures, and backfill it compacted so the road above doesn't settle into a washboard later. Utility excavation is unforgiving work, and getting the depth, the bedding, and the compaction right is what keeps it from being dug up twice.
Turning timberland into lots takes the whole sequence, and we bring it together. We clear the ground, cut and fill the pads and the road subgrade, dig the drainage and the utilities, and build the access so the site's ready for vertical construction. Saraland's boom is built on ground like this, and we've been shaping it as it grows.
